Carpet Restretching

I restretch loose wall-to-wall carpet to remove ripples and help it sit securely again. I assess the carpet, backing, seams, tack strip and room layout before deciding how much can be corrected.

What I assess

When this repair may be suitable

  • Ripples across open areas
  • Buckling after moving furniture
  • Loose carpet near walls
  • Carpet that shifts or creates a trip hazard

Matching expectations

Restretching cannot reverse delamination, severe backing damage or permanent creases in every carpet. I will flag those conditions during assessment.

Repair approach

How I plan the work

1

Inspect the room edges, seams and carpet condition

2

Determine furniture and access requirements

3

Release and power-stretch the carpet where appropriate

4

Retrim, resecure and check the surface

Photo estimate

Photos that help me assess it

  • A low-angle photo across each ripple
  • A wide photo of the entire room
  • Photos of doorways, seams and built-in obstacles
